This means keeping the company a manageable size; which in turn allows the president to visit all job sites to insure every step of the building process meets Conger Builders’ high standards. The president, Jeff Conger, personally selects and oversees all subcontractors; is in constant, direct contact with the homebuyer; and sees every house, everyday, from start to finish. John R. Poore, Inc. entered into the residential building industry in 1969.  After incorporating in 1976 as "John R. Poore Builders, Inc.", Mr. Poore as founder continues to serve as President and Chief Executive Officer. On 1982, the company was awarded its Unlimited General Contractors license (#17735), giving it the authority to perform both residential and commercial construction. Utilizing his ability to recognize market trends, his incessant demand for quality and an eye for opulence, Mr. Poore quickly positioned the company into ranking among the top twenty single family builders in the Charlotte area, where it remains today.

During its year of inception, the company was able to construct six homes per year.  By the end of 1981, new starts were averaging ten homes per year and the first superintendent was hired.  With this addition, new starts showed a mark increase of twenty-six by the end of 1987.  As the volume of new homes sales increased, so did the average home size and comparable price range.  A John R. Poore home in 1976 ranged from eighty thousand dollars to a maximum of two hundred thousand dollars.  Currently his homes begin at thee hundred thousand dollars and can exceed two million dollars.

John R. Poore continues to be on of the select builders who are invited into premier new subdivisions in Charlotte's metropolitan area and has received many prestigious Builder Awards throughout the years.  He is currently building custom homes in the following prestigious areas: Selwyn Grove, Ballantyne, The Peninsula, Wyndham Hall, and The Point.  In addition, John R. Poore has developed six other subdivisions in Mecklenburg County over the last fifteen years.  The subdivisions include Windswept, Morris Meadows, Cambridge Grove, Ivy Meadows, Selwyn Grove, and Rutledge Grove.
